Police release name of Mason woman killed in crash Wednesday on U.S. 127

ALAIEDON TWP. – A Mason woman who died in a crash on U.S. 127 Wednesday morning has been identified as Leocadia Lovelace, 20.

The crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. in the northbound lanes at the Interstate 96 interchange. Police said Lovelace's vehicle went off the road and collided with a disabled vehicle on the right shoulder.

Lovelace was pronounced dead at the scene. A young child riding in her vehicle was hospitalized with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The second vehicle was unoccupied, and no one else was injured.

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office released Lovelace's name in a Friday morning news release. They haven't released any details about the child who was riding in her vehicle.

The northbound lanes were closed near the interchange for about three hours after the crash.

The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team was investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (517) 244-1895.
