Traffic altercation led to shots fired on the North Side, police say

A report of shots fired on the North Side early Thursday is believed to be the result of a traffic altercation.

Just before 1 a.m., Pittsburgh police responded to a 24-round ShotSpotter alert in the 1500 block of Manhattan Street. Shortly after, a 911 caller reported they were shot at and their vehicle hit multiple times in the city’s Manchester neighborhood.

Police said the shooting is believed to have happened at a nearby stop sign when another driver got out of their vehicle and fired multiple shots at the victim, who drove from the scene to avoid injury.

As officers investigated, Channel 11 saw shell casings near the intersection of Manhattan and Liverpool streets. About three miles away on East Ohio Street near the 16th Street Bridge, we saw a blue Kia with multiple bullet holes.

Police have not said if anyone was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
