Three dead, three others injured, including at a workplace, in Friday and Saturday shootings, police say
Three people died and three others were injured in Friday and Saturday shootings, according to Baltimore police. Among the injuries are a teenager shot in the leg and a man shot at a workplace.
One of the victims was Nykayla Strawder, 15, who died on Saturday night after being shot in Edmondson Village in West Baltimore, police said. A 9-year-old boy was identified as the suspect but has not been charged with a crime. Investigators said the boy was playing with a handgun when it accidentally discharged.
Later on Saturday night, a Central District patrol officer heard a firearm discharge at about 11:23 p.m. and ran to the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Upton. A 37-year-old man who walked into a hospital later told police that he had been shot at that location in West Baltimore.

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg early Saturday morning in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood, police said.
Northern District patrol officers responded about 4:10 a.m. a home in 600 block of McCabe Avenue for a shooting. Police found the boy with a gunshot wound to his leg before he was taken to a hospital.

On Friday, members of a Baltimore City Police patrol, after hearing a firearm discharge, discovered 25-year-old Raquan Wyatt suffering from gunshot wounds shortly after 5 p.m.
Wyatt was found in the 3900 block of West Belvedere Avenue in Northwest Baltimore late Friday afternoon.
Medics responded and performed life-saving measures. He was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The case remains under investigation.
Later in the evening, at 8:58 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of Fenwick Avenue to investigate a report of gunshots. Officers found a 34-year-old man, Chris Hale, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics responded and rendered aid before taking Hale to an area hospital. He did not survive.
Earlier in the afternoon, police responded to a shooting in an industrial area in Southwest Baltimore. The shooting took place in the 1200 block of Bernard Drive in the Wilhelm Park neighborhood, close to Carroll Park, said a spokesman for the police department.
Friday afternoon, police cars and ambulances clustered around a group of warehouses on the block, including that of MPI Label Systems, which prints custom labels for food, beverages and other products, according to its website. Police with riot shields and long guns could be seen leaving the business around 4:45 pm. Several employees were sitting in the parking lot, waiting for the driveway to open so they could go home.
They found a 29-year-old male who was suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to an area hospital and is in serious condition.
Julie Burns, an employee in the MPI Label quality department, said she heard three gunshots.
”Those weren’t normal sounds for what goes on here,” she said.
Burns said she spoke with the victim and that he walked out of the building under his own power.
”It’s way too close to home,” she said of the shooting.
It’s unclear if police detained the shooter.
Police said preliminary information revealed a suspect entered the location, shot the victim and fled on foot.
Police officers also responded to the 1300 block of East Oliver Street in East Baltimore for a shot spotter alert Friday afternoon. They discovered a crashed vehicle and evidence of a shooting.
They later found a shooting victim at an area hospital. The victim was a 20-year-old male.
