Police say they were called by a young woman inside the home who told them that the suspect who allegedly started the disturbance was not to have contact with her mother or the residence. Officers confirmed that the suspect did have current bond conditions from previous domestic abuse-related arrests that stated he was not to have contact with the victim.

Once on scene, police learned the suspect, a 41-year-old Menasha man, armed himself with edged weapons and retreated to the basement where he barricaded himself. Officials say others in the home were not injured and were safely evacuated before the arrival of the Winnebago County SWAT Team.

Law enforcement was then able to use negotiation and less lethal options to resolve the situation without further incident with the suspect being arrested just after 8:00 a.m. on February 1.
