Suspect in police custody after one person is seriously injured in Roseville shooting

Investigators have one suspect in custody after another person was struck by gunfire and seriously injured in a shooting Monday in Roseville, police said.

The shooting was reported at 3:20 p.m. along Douglas Boulevard, between Roseville Parkway and Sierra College Boulevard, the Roseville Police Department announced on social media.

Officers arrived and found one victim suffering with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said the suspect left the area in a vehicle and described him as a 50-year-old man with a bald head wearing a black hooded-sweatshirt. Shortly before 5:30 p.m., police announced the man they were looking for was taken into custody.

Investigators have not released the name of the suspect in custody. Police said there was no longer a threat to the public and that the surrounding area is safe.

Police asked residents to avoid the area of Douglas and Sierra College boulevards as authorities work at the scene.

Investigators closed the parking lot outside the House of Oliver restaurant in the 3900 block of Douglas, in the shopping center just west of Sierra College, as authorities work at the shooting scene Monday evening.

In response to Monday’s shooting, House of Oliver posted on its Facebook page, “Our Heart is Broken.”

In February, House of Oliver was among 20 Sacramento-area restaurants accused by California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of allegedly violating COVID-19 restrictions.

In March, the Placer County Restaurant & Bar Coalition announced it was suing Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state of California. House of Oliver is listed as an allied restaurant in the coalition, which argued the governor’s executive orders aimed at slowing the COVID-19 spread were unconstitutional overreach.

Employees close up as patrons stand outside and a musician packs up at House of Oliver Wine Lounge on the first night of a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, in Roseville. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the overnight stay-at-home order, restricting non-essential activities, for most of California in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
