The collision caused heavy damage to both vehicles and the Dodge Ram fled without stopping to provide aid or information, a news release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department states.

The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 43-year-old Todd Hurt, was transported to a hospital but did not survive. A passenger in the car also was taken to a hospital and was listed in critical condition, police said.
