Domestic violence incident leads to standoff in east Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department says domestic violence prompted a standoff in east Wichita Friday afternoon.

Police responded to a home near Douglas Avenue and Webb Road on the report of a disturbance involving a knife. Just before 1 p.m., it was ruled a standoff.

“When our officers arrived, they located an adult female who has reported being a victim of a domestic violence case,” says police spokesperson Lieutenant Aaron Moses. “At this time, we’ve established that there are felony charges on a suspect, and we believe the suspect may be inside this residence refusing to come outside.”

Police say the situation has been resolved, and the suspect surrendered peacefully and has been taken into custody. Webb Road was closed between Central Avenue and Douglas Avenue during this time.
