SWAT standoff with armed man in South Bay home ends after six hours

SAN DIEGO — Authorities surrounded a residence in the Nestor neighborhood for several hours on Saturday after a man barricaded himself inside with a firearm, police confirmed to FOX 5.

San Diego police were called to the scene around 11 a.m. in the 2100 block of Clairton Place after the man allegedly pointed a gun at a family member, the department said.

Officers helped the family member out of the home safely before the standoff was initiated, authorities said.

A perimeter was set up by SDPD in an effort to get the suspect out of the home. Around 6 p.m., the suspect surrendered and he was taken into custody without incident, according to authorities.
