Police Use Tear Gas to Disperse Protesters in Richmond

Police used tear gas, pepper spray and flash bangs, witnesses said, to disperse anti-racism protesters in Richmond, Virginia, on the night of June 22-23.

Eduardo Acevedo, who recorded this footage, said rubber bullets were also being used.

Acevedo’s video shows clouds shrouding retreating protesters as police advance. Loud bangs and pops can be heard. Police are also seen firing canisters as they advance. At one point, a protester is seen flinching as an officer aims and fires a canister in his direction from a few feet away. Credit: Eduardo Acevedo/The Commonwealth Times via Storyful
