Police: Two arrests made after woman attacked, robbed of her purse outside Tewksbury bank

Two people were arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly assaulting a woman and stealing her purse outside of a bank.

Keith Fauth, 50, of Haverhill, and Christine Brogna, 51, of Laconia, New Hampshire, are both charged with assault and battery on a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60 and unarmed robbery of a person over 60.

Officers responding to the parking lot of Metro Credit Union on Main Street around 9:42 a.m. for a report of a purse snatching that occurred found a 61-year-old victim who was allegedly shoved to the ground, according to Tewksbury Police. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Shortly thereafter, police were provided a description of the two assailants, as well as the car they drove off in.

Patrol officers say they found the suspect vehicle a little over a mile down the road at 1928 Main Street and conducted a traffic stop.

Both suspects, identified as Fauth and Brogna, were arrested without incident. They will be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Lowell District Court.

“I am extremely grateful for the quick action of our patrol officers who were not only able to bring these individuals into custody, but also able to retrieve the victim’s stolen items,” said Chief Ryan Columbus.

Authorities say this was not a random act of violence and the parties were acquainted earlier in the day.
