Police: Woman killed, child critically injured in Hartwell crash Thursday

A woman was killed and a 2-year-old child injured in a crash in Hartwell Thursday afternoon, according to Cincinnati police.

On Thursday, around 3 p.m., investigators responded to the 7900 block of Anthony Wayne Avenue for a reported crash.

Police identified the woman killed in the crash as 27-year-old Nancy Johnson.

Investigators said she was driving a red Kia Forte headed south on Anthony Wayne Avenue, when she crossed the centerline and struck a blue Honda CRV headed north.

A 2-year-old was in the backseat of the Kia Forte. Police said the child was not wearing a seatbelt in the crash. He was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Johnson was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center following the crash and was later pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Honda was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Investigators said excessive speed is a factor in the crash, and impairment is being investigated as a factor.
