The Polish Center of Wisconsin plans Café Nights on Wednesdays

The Polish Center of Wisconsin, 6941 S. 68th St. in Franklin, is now open for Café Nights every Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. through October. Each week two different dinner plates are featured, along with sides of vegetables and a roll with butter for $15 each.

The menus in May feature pork schnitzel with boiled potato, grilled salmon with noodles, stuffed cabbage rolls with mashed potatoes, stuffed pork chop, or Polish meatballs and noodles. If you prefer a lighter fare, these items are available every week: a plate of four pierogi ($5), Polish sausage on a bun with french fries ($8), or a hot dog and fries ($6).

Crossroads Collective will host pop-ups by fledgling restaurants

Crossroads Collective is inviting restaurant vendors to enter a Corner Pop-Up Spot contest that will allow restaurant entrepreneurs to bring their food concept to the food hall for a two-to-six-week stay. Participating restaurants receive a $500 stipend, and diners will enjoy a rotation of vendors in the Corner Pop-Up.

Entrepreneurs should submit their best pitch for a pop-up restaurant to info@crossroadscollectivemke.com by May 15. Winners will be selected by May 22. Crossroads Collective, 2238 N. Farwell Ave., operates from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Old World Wisconsin will serve fish fries, Plates and Pints dinners

Old World Wisconsin opens May 6 with a calendar of dining events planned for the summer in the Clausing Barn. A family-style fish fry will be available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 12, June 9, July 14, Aug. 11 and Sept. 8. The beer-battered fish is served with salad, clam chowder, choice of potato, coleslaw, rye bread, dessert and a beverage. The price is $39 per person.

The Plates and Pints Beer Dinner is a five-course dining event accompanied by beers from local breweries. Dinners are held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. May 26, July 28, Aug. 25 and Sept. 22. Chefs will make the most of McDonald's ingredients at Unwrapped fundraiser

The eighth annual “Unwrapped Milwaukee” benefit for SHARP Literacy will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. May 18 at The Gage, 1139 S. 70th St.  in West Allis. Local chefs will be challenged to prepare gourmet small-plate entrees, appetizers and desserts using McDonald’s core ingredients.

The Unwrapped Milwaukee chefs for 2023 include: Brent Davis of Bacchus: A Bartolotta Restaurant; Tom McGinty and Brian Frakes of Milwaukee Athletic Club; Brian Taborski of Saz’s Hospitality Group; Ashton Rotman of Rot’s Hots Food Truck; Brian Ward of Ward’s House of Prime; and Amanda Wisth of Lemonyay. Individual tickets are $100 and may be purchased online at Unwrapped23.givesmart.com

Mayfair offers rewards cards through Dine and Delight program

Dining at participating Mayfair mall restaurants in May could earn you a $25 rewards card through the Dine and Delight program.

To earn the Rewards Card, register your email with the program, take a photo of a Mayfair mall restaurant receipt totaling $75 or more in a single transaction, and upload it to the website. A $25 digital gift card will be sent to your email to use at The Cheesecake Factory or P.F. Chang’s.
