Polish Leopard-2 tanks ready to ship to Ukraine, President Duda says

He noted that Ukrainian crews are currently being trained to operate Leopards.

“Now, our Leopard tanks are ready for Ukraine today,” said Duda.

“In our training center, there are Ukrainian tankers training on Leopard tanks, we are preparing them right now, there is a training cycle going on.”

According to the president, Ukrainian troops currently training in Poland will “within one month return to Ukraine, along with the tanks.”

Duda also added that Poland encountered problems with obtaining spare parts for German-made tanks.

“It’s not only us — these problems are quite common,” he said.

“Other countries also have problems with Leopards, because Germans have got a serious problem with providing spare parts. We do not understand this situation, but that’s the way it is.

On Feb. 22, Polish Foreign Ministry announced the country would provide Ukraine with 14 Leopard-2 tanks over the "next two to three weeks."

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that Ukraine would receive 120-140 modern Western tanks in the first wave of shipments.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs 300-500 tanks for a major counter-offensive to liberate all Ukrainian territory from Russian occupation.
