Polish law enforcement were seen gathered near the country’s border with Belarus on Tuesday, November 9, as senior European officials accused Minsk of a weaponizing a migrant crisis brewing at the frontier.

Polish leaders maintain that the government of Belarusian strongman Alexander Lukashenko is fomenting a dangerous situation along the border by deliberately funneling migrants in the direction of Poland. This week, they were joined by European officials, who condemned Belarus.

In a statement posted" on Twitter":https://twitter.com/eucopresident/status/1458039508688068608 on Tuesday, European Council President Charles Michel said “using vulnerable migrants as part of a hybrid attack is beyond contempt."

Migrants camped overnight Monday and remained on the Belarusian side of the border near the Polish village of Kuznica on Tuesday. On Monday, the Polish government reported that between 3,000 and 4,000 migrants were close to the border.

This footage, posted online by the Polish Police on November 9, shows officers gathered near a border fence where authorities said previous attempts to cross had been made. Migrant encampments can be seen on the other side of the border. Credit: Polish Police via Storyful
