Dozens of interns and volunteers canvassed neighborhoods door-to-door in the district, sharing campaign literature for Royals, a former naval flight officer and IT sales executive.

“I am excited to have so many young people excited about winning this race and committed to ensuring our campaign’s grassroots organization is unparalleled as we continue to build our base of support,” Royals said in the release.

A "Tribute to the Last Patriot," honoring Declaration of Independence signer Charles Carroll of Carrollton, is planned for Sept. 19 — his 268th birthday — at 6 p.m. in Byron Memorial Park in Williamsport.

Hosted by Rick Bibbee of the Cobblers & Carpenters for Liberty, the event will feature "a select group of Citzens" giving "a glimpse of the hearts and mindsets of our Founding Fathers," according to a flyer advertising the event.

The speakers will include several people running for their party's nomination for the 6th Congressional District, including Stephen R. McDow II, Chris Hyser, Brenda Thiam and Mariela Roca.

Other speakers include Angela Batista, chair of the Washington County Democratic Central Committee; Paul "Mr. Paulie" Ward, a volunteer, advocate, photographer and videographer; Grace Ellis, a student at Hagerstown Community College; John Gundling, a self-professed student of the Constitution; state Del. Brooke Grossman, D-Washington; and state Sen. Mike McKay, R-Washington/Allegany/Garrett. The event will be emceed by Kevin Booth, known for his tribute performances of Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty.
