Council candidate Beard has Sunday fund-raiser

Scott Beard, candidate for Place 4 on the Abilene City Council, has scheduled a fund-raising event for 6 p.m. Sunday at the T&P Warehouse, 901 North First St.

The event begins at 6 p.m.

Beard, who pastors Fountaingate Fellowship, said he chose to have the event away from church campus to avoid any conflict. Some have questioned campaign signs posted around the north-side church.

He will give a "10-minute stump speech," he said, but otherwise it will fund-raising, a meal and country dancing to the Kirk House Band.

The event already is sold out, he said.
