Polk County Clerk of Courts event March 11 waives fees for unpaid court fines

The Polk County Clerk of Courts office is offering a one-day event to waive collection fees on unpaid court fines.

The annual Operation Green Light will take place March 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Customers may pay by phone at 863-534-4446 or in person at the Polk County Courthouse, 255 N. Broadway Ave., in Bartow.

During the one-day event, the collection fees applied to unpaid court fines are waived, which saves customers up to 40% on their outstanding fines, Clerk of Courts Stacy Butterfield said in a news release. Once the fines are paid, customers can proceed with the reinstatement of their driver’s licenses.

Customers must pay the fines that were received in Polk County. Payment methods include cash, money order, credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay or checks. Late fees and reinstatement fees still apply, if applicable.

During last year’s event, Polk County customers saved $219,000, the release said, as 484 cases were paid in full and 894 cases placed on a payment plan.
