Polk County high school results for baseball, softball tennis

Baseball

Lake Wales 3, Lakeland 0

Highlights: Gavin Dicks and Parker Brown combined for a two-hit shout. Dicks allowed one hit in 4 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts and five walks. Landon Rubio doubled and drove in two runs. Jose Garcia and Nunter Nix had singles for Lakeland.

Lakeland 6, Mulberry 4

Highlights: Nic Partridge doubled and had two hits ad the Dreadnaughts scored six runs on just three hits but walked eight times. Chris Conde pitched five innings and allowed two runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. Hunter Nix allowed one unearned run in two innings of relief with three strikeouts and two walks.

Lakeland Christian 7, Seffner Christian 1

Highlights: Lakeland Christian's Colby Brewington had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs, and Daniel Hartley had two hits and drove in two runs. Wyatt Jenkins drove in a run, and Gavin Byrd tripled. Carson Martin allowed one run on one hit in four innings with seven strikeouts, and Peyton Rutledge pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

George Jenkins 7, DeSoto County 2

Highlights: Richie Collazo ripped two doubles and drove in a run, and Caleb Smith had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Jenkins. Nolan Topper had three hits and scored twice. Bo Seymour pitched five shutout innings and struck out six.

Berkeley Prep 10, McKeel 0

Highlights: Berkeley Prep erupted for four runs in the third and five runs in the fourth to run away from the Wildcats. Alex Arroyo had McKeel's only hit.

Softball

Lake Wales 12, Sebring 2

Highlights: The Highlanders opened the season with a bang by piling up 15 hits. Presley Smith had four hit, including two doubles and a triple, with three RBIs. Sydnie Whitaker had three hits with thee RBIs. Kiera Morris Doubled and drove in two runs. Zamya McBurrows and Hannah Battles also had two hits apiece, and Lydia Denton, Karsy Maddox, Kiera Morris and Lilah Denton also had one hit. Macey Murphy pitches six innings and allowed two unearned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Auburndale 4, Winter Haven 0

Highlights: Kassidy Pontbrint pitched a three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and one walk to lead the Bloodhounds over the Blue Devils. Nazyah Jones went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Hailey Bradley and Tessa Anderson also singled and drove in a run apiece.

Bartow 16, Liberty 2

Highlights: Bartow piled up 18 hits in its opening win of the season. McKenzie Gibson homered and drove in two runs. Leah Quartermaine had two hits and drove in three runs. Ryleigh Knowlton had two hits and two RBIs. Red Oxley had two hits, including a double, and had an RBI. Chelysei Brisbane-Wideman, Hailey Reddick, Ja'shayla Narcisse, Kylie Arnold and Kynley Quarterbmaine all had one hit with an RBIs.

George Jenkins 10, Lake Placid 4

Highlights: Payton Spears had four hits, concluding a double and drove in two runs, and she pitched four shutout innings and allowed one hit with five strikeouts. Also for Jenkins, Jzlyn Duque had three hits with a boule and two RBIs. MacKenzie Mathers, Elis Correa, Riley Pate and Kailee Combee each drove in a run.
