Polk County's Harris, Watson each take 1st at World Horseshoe championships

Two players from the Polk County each had first-place finishes at the 2022 World Horseshoe Pitching Championships that was held July 11-22 in Monroe, La. Five players from Polk County overall participated in the event.

In the Elders E-2 class, Jon Harris of Davenport finished first with a 13-2 record and a 36% ringer percentage.

In the Elders G-1 class, Jim Watson of Indiana, who competes with the Winter Haven Club, in the winter months finished first with a 13-2 record and a 31.33% ringer percentage.

In the Elders C-1 class, Johnny Wilhelmsen of Davenport finished in third place with a 9-4 record and a 47.12% ringer percentage.

In the Elders D-1 class, Burton Hare from West Virginia, who competes with the Winter Haven Club during the winter months, finished in 11th place with a 39.04% ringer percentage.

In the Elders F-1 Class, Robert Yost finished in eighth place with a 7.5-7.5 record and a 27.5% ringer percentage.
