Polk State College president gets state appointment

The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice has announced the appointment of Angela Garcia Falconetti, president of Polk State College, to the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention State Advisory Group.

The advisory group consists of leaders from across Florida who have the training, experience, or special knowledge of the juvenile justice system, the DJJ said in a news release. Members provide guidance in support of DJJ’s federally funded activities, while also engaging with the department in the implementation and monitoring of its strategic priorities, the release said.

Falconetti serves as a commissioner on the Education Commission of the States and is a member of the Excelencia in Education and Excelencia in Action Network’s Presidents for Latino Student Success and the Florida Chamber Foundation Board.

She was one of 15 Floridians appointed to the board.
