Poll: Biden holds on to single-digit lead in Nevada

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has maintained his single-digit advantage over President Donald Trump in Nevada, according to a new survey of the Western swing state.
A New York Times/Siena College poll released Tuesday — a week from Election Day — reports that 49 percent of Nevada likely voters prefer Biden, while 43 percent favor Trump.
Biden’s lead is unchanged from the previous version of the Times/Siena Nevada poll published earlier this month, which also showed him ahead of Trump by 6 percentage points, 48-42 percent.
Another Times/Siena Nevada poll published last month showed Biden leading Trump by 4 percentage points, 46-42. The RealClearPolitics average of recent Nevada surveys, conducted from Sept. 20-Oct. 11, has Biden with an edge of 5.2 percentage points over Trump.
In 2016, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won Nevada’s six electoral votes by 2.4 percentage points.
Trump is now working to flip Nevada as Biden gains ground in Midwestern swing states and some Southern battlegrounds that the Republican captured four years ago. Nevada has toggled between supporting presidential nominees of both major parties in past election cycles — backing Republican George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, and Democrat Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.
The latest Times/Siena poll was conducted Oct. 23-26, surveying 809 Nevada likely voters with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
