Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Feb. 11)

Broward County’s best are stepping up in the clutch as the winter sports playoffs get ready to move closer to the state finals.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Feb. 15, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Juliana Torres, Cardinal Gibbons, girls’ soccer: Torres had a goal and an assist to help the Chiefs rally for a 2-1 win over top-seeded North Broward Prep in the Region 4-4A semifinals.

Jaelynn Housey, Nova, girls’ basketball: Housey totaled 26 points and 17 rebounds to help the Titans beat South Broward and win the District 15-6A championship.

Payton Moyer, Monarch, girls’ wrestling: Moyer, who is 19-1 this season, won the district championship in the 170-pound weight class at the District 14-1A meet.

Joshua Oliveira, Highlands Christian, boys’ soccer: Oliveira recorded back-to-back shutouts and made 12 combined saves in wins over Archbishop Carroll and Berean Christian to advance to the Region 4-2A final.
