Poll: What do Maryland voters think about the 2024 presidential race?

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — In an exclusive poll by Emerson College, The Hill, and DC News Now, Marylanders shared their thoughts and opinions going into the 2024 Presidential election.

Responders were asked about the candidates in the 2024 presidential race as well as their top concerns going into the election. Here are some of the questions and what they had to say.

Does President Joe Biden’s age raise serious doubts in your mind about voting for Joe Biden, or is this not a serious consideration for you?

  • 53.9% of respondents said Biden’s age raises concern for them.

  • 46.1% said it wasn’t a serious consideration for them.

Do former President Donald Trump’s criminal indictments raise serious doubts in your mind about voting for Donald Trump, or is this not a serious consideration for you?

  • 66% of respondents said the former president’s criminal indictments raised doubts for them.

  • 34% said they did not.

What do you think is the most important issue facing Maryland?

  • Economy – 22.7%

  • Crime – 21.2%

  • Housing affordability – 10.8%

  • Education – 10.4%

  • Immigration – 9.8%

  • Healthcare – 9.6&

  • Threats to democracy – 7.9%

  • Abortion access – 3.9%

  • Something else – 3.5%

Poll: Hogan tops, ties top Democrats for Maryland’s open US Senate seat

The poll was conducted from Feb. 12-13 with a sample of 1,000 Maryland registered voters. Here’s the breakdown of their party affiliation, when asked:

  • 54.3% identified as Democrats.

  • 24.6% said they were Republicans.

  • 21.1% replied that they were independents.

Of those who responded:

  • 57.9% said they voted for Joe Biden in 2020.

  • 26.8% said they voted for Donald Trump,

  • 2.3% voted for someone else.

  • 13% responded that they did not vote in 2020.

The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points.
