When it comes to opinions about Nigel Farage, there hasn't always been much room for a middle ground.

The former leader of UKIP and the Brexit Party is the quintessential divisive political figure.

Love him or loathe him, those on both sides could always agree on one thing - you can't simply just like him.

But perhaps that is changing, thanks to his appearance on ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

While those on either side of the Farage fence are unlikely to climb over, the reaction to I'm A Celeb suggests they may be willing to move a little bit closer to it.

Farage is reportedly getting paid £1.5m to appear on the show, which featured fellow politician Matt Hancock last year.

Farage himself has said he is “surprised” he has not been picked by the public to do more of the gruelling Bushtucker trials, whereas Hancock was repeatedly voted into taking part in the tasks.

His fellow GB News presenter, Nana Akua, backed Farage, writing in the Daily Mail: "Far from being a racist or anti-immigrant, the left must be spitting feathers that Nigel Farage is coming across as a common sense ex-politician who speaks for the silent majority."

TV writer Gareth Roberts said in The Spectator: "The show has revealed that Farage is a very ordinary, even rather dull, man, even if he is – unsurprisingly – accustomed to emotional people who don’t know what they’re talking about having a pop at him.

"He might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Farage is a breath of fresh air compared to much of what we TV viewers have to put up with."

But that does not mean Farage doesn't still have his detractors.

Writing in The Guardian this week, comedian Stewart Lee said: "ITV provides an uncritical platform for a dangerous demagogue to present himself as a man of the people without being held to account in any meaningful way, paving his way to power. Sound familiar?

"The Apprentice gave America Donald Trump and Have I Got News For You gave Britain Boris Johnson."

But what do you think of Farage after his appearance on I'm A Celebrity? Has your view of him been altered?
