Poll results: Breese Central running back win 2nd BND Football Player of the Week

Kaden Rakers of Central High School in Breese, Illinois is the winner of last week’s Belleville News-Democrat Football Player of the Week high school poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

Rakers, a junior, rushed for 175 yards on 26 carries and 3 touchdowns, along with 2 catches for 62 yards in the Cougars 33-13 victory against Columbia. He also had 3 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles and 1 pass defended on the defensive side.

Rakers received 100% of the votes after as the Panthers stay competitive for the season.

  • Koby Osterhage, Waterloo High School, Senior, RB: Osterhage had 15 rushes for 61 yards, 4 receptions for 72 yards and 4 total touchdowns (2 RUSH/2 REC) in Waterloo’s 42-13 win against Mascoutah.

  • Jayden Ellington, Althoff Catholic High School, Freshman, QB: Ellington completed 7 for 7 (100% completion percentage) passes for 83 yards and 3 touchdowns all in the first quarter as the Crusaders routed Granite City 53-14.

  • Jahkori Adams, O’Fallon High School, Senior, RB: Adams rushed for 165 yards on 26 carries and 3 touchdowns in the Panthers 23-0 victory over Alton.
