Poll: Vote now for the Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Week (1/17-1/23)

There were milestones reached, titles won and records set in what was a packed sports schedule last week. The result, of course, is a full list of nominees representing wrestling, bowling, track and field, basketball and swimming.

Last week's Player of the Week winner was Red Hook swimmer Owen Daniels. The freshman received 10,960 votes.

Voting will be open until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Here are this week's nominees:

The senior earned his 200th career victory on Saturday during the Coxsackie-Athens Duals tournament. Bova pinned Aidan Jones of Schuylerville-Greenwich in 54 seconds to reach the milestone. Bova is 37-0 this season with a pin in all but one of his matches.

The senior took first in the triple jump (43 feet, 2 3/4 inches) at the New Balance Games last weekend at The Armory.

She totaled 39 points in a two-game sweep of rival Arlington as the teams played on back-to-back days. Chiocchi's 22 points led Ketcham in a 62-57 win on Saturday. She also scored 26 points in a win over White Plains last week.

He had 22 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Raiders in a 52-35 win over Franklin D. Roosevelt last Wednesday.

He won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06 and the 200 freestyle in 2:05.31, leading the Admirals in an 85-64 win over Our Lady of Lourdes last Friday.

The senior scored 33 points for the Dragons on Saturday in a 60-58 overtime win against Webutuck.

The senior recorded four first-period pins and was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler in the Wallkill Tournament last Saturday.

The senior had 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals to lead the Iron Dukes in a 59-51 win over Warwick Valley. He also scored 18 points in a win over Saugerties last Friday.

Maia Perillo, John Jay track & field

The sophomore won the pole vault and set a program record with a height of 10 feet, 6 inches, helping the Patriots win the Section 1 Northern Counties championships on Sunday. Perillo's height was four feet beyond second place. She also took third in the 55 meters.

The eighth-grader rolled a 619 series, including a 233 game, for the Admirals during a virtual match against Carmel. A week earlier, shot a six-game average of 234 to win first place individually in the DeStefano Bowling Tournament.

The 6-foot-8 center had 25 points, eight rebounds and a block to lead the Bomber in a win over Dover on Friday.

She scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Admirals in a dramatic 57-54 overtime win over John Jay-East Fishkill.

The senior had two points, nine assists and seven steals as the Warriors put on a defensive clinic in a 55-37 win over Poughkeepsie.

Though it came in a 69-67 loss, Kennedy had 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists for the Blazers, who nearly pulled an upset of powerhouse Chester.

The senior won the 200-yard individual medley in a state-qualifying time of 1:59.84 in a meet last Friday against Arlington. He also took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.31) and helped the 200 freestyle relay team win. Horgan has already earned a berth to three state tournament events.
