Poll: Where should Brightline stop go: downtown Stuart or one of downtown Fort Pierce sites?

If there were doubts before about Brightline's plans to put a passenger train station on the Treasure Coast, they should be fading fast.

The company put out a request for proposals for a potential site somewhere in Martin or St. Lucie County. The deadline for submitting proposals was Dec. 22.

Sites in Stuart and Fort Pierce are under consideration, with Brightline expected to announce a decision sometime in the first quarter of this year.

If plans stay on track, so to speak, the station is expected to be built and operational by early 2028.

A Brightline train passes by the Sunrise Theatre at the Orange Avenue crossing at 38 mph as it heads north through St. Lucie County on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, on its way to Orlando on the first day of transporting passengers.
