In September, Chicago rapper Polo G plans to drop his new album, Hood Poet. While this is exciting, the Hall of Fame artist recently hinted about retiring after his next project’s release.

Polo G’s Hood Poet stands for “He Overcome Obstacles During Pain or Emotional Trauma.”

Unfortunately, it might be his final musical project based on his recent thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Honestly, after my Hood Poet album I’m considering retiring from music 💜🫶🏾🫶🏾,” Polo G said late Thursday. “So I appreciate everybody ridin for me 10 fold 🌪️.”

The Columbia Records artist added, “This rap s**t got so lame and watered down it ain’t no fun in it no more.”

The 24-year-old has previously released three studio albums since hitting the scene: Die a Legend in 2019, The Goat in 2020 and 2021’s Hall of Fame, which topped the Billboard 200 chart upon release.

On Friday, Polo G released the music video for “Barely Holdin’ On,” the lead single from Hood Poet.
