These New Polo Ralph Lauren Watches Will Be Your Secret Style Weapon for Holiday Dressing
What does a man’s wrist watch say about him? Does it convey athleticism à la a fitness tracker or Apple Watch? Maybe that you’re an ultra-outdoorsman, via a rugged timepiece with lots of bells and whistles, or kind of a gaming nerd, with a serious throwback watch to prove it.

In time for the holidays, the iconic American design company has debuted three new timepieces featuring Polo Bear, the classic teddy bear character created in 1991.
RL originally produced 200 limited editions of the stuffed toy, all sporting Ralph Lauren duds, and Polo Bear has been a brand mainstay ever since, its likeness gracing sweaters, hats, scarves and, of course, polo shirts.
Last year, Polo Bear made its timepiece debut. Now, he’s available in three new watches wearing outfits inspired by ones Ralph Lauren himself (yes, the man behind the brand) has worn. The end result is a collection of timepieces that are playful without being childish, a perfect gift for your dad or brother come holiday time.
The first timepiece in the new Polo Bear Watch Collection features “Bedford Bear.” His look is inspired by Ralph Lauren’s Bedford, New York estate, which is an ode to English country manors, but with an American flair. Polo Bear wears a tweed sport coat, jodhpurs, and a turtleneck—just the look to go riding in.
The stainless steel timepiece comes with a tan leather strap and a green plaid silk strap. You can even mix and match them, wearing half of each strap for a unique sartorial statement.
“Tuxedo Bear” is based on the designer’s most personally beloved formal look, a classic tuxedo jacket and bowtie paired with jeans, because what’s more All-American than that? Also crafted with a stainless steel dial, the watch comes with a luxurious black alligator strap.
From regular tuxedo to Canadian tuxedo, the “Denim Flag Bear” embraces a western look complete with American flag sweater. The look is inspired by an iconic outfit Ralph Lauren was photographed in in 1989 at his Colorado ranch, which was later used as an ad campaign (that’s some serious style cred).
It comes with a leather strap and a denim strap to really drive the jeans-all-the-time theme home.
Though these watches have a distinctly Americana vibe, each one is crafted with an automatic, Swiss-made, caliber RL200 movement, because no one makes a watch like the Swiss. It’s the best of both worlds and one present we’re adding to our holiday wishlist stat.
