Pom Klementieff reveals Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan inspiration for ‘MI 7’ villain role

Pom Klementieff recently revealed that she took inspiration from several notable figures in preparation for her role as an assassin in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” also known as “Mission: Impossible 7.”

Key details: Speaking to Variety, Klementieff, 37, said she watched several films featuring iconic stars such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Clint Eastwood and Takeshi Kitano.

The Marvel star shared that she paid special attention to "movies with Bruce Lee, with Jackie Chan and some French movies as well, because it was not just about the fight and the physicality — it was also the way the character walks."

“And movies with Clint Eastwood, Takeshi Kitano, all these beautiful characters that barely speak but convey so many emotions as well,” she added.

About her character: In “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” Klementieff plays the deadly assassin Paris, whom the French actor describes as a “pretty mysterious character that doesn’t speak much, but the beauty of it is that when she speaks, everyone listens.”

In an interview with "CBS Mornings" last week, Klementieff revealed that she had always dreamed of joining the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, even before she was cast as Mantis in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which was released on May 5, 2017.

“Back then, I was training and even sometimes in my schedule, I would write ‘Mission: Impossible’ in my phone instead of writing martial arts training or stunts training,” she said. “I was manifesting the whole time. It was like, ‘One day maybe I get to do a fight scene with Tom [Cruise], who knows.’”

Moving forward: Klementieff told Variety that she is “dying to do more action [movies]” in the future but noted that “it has to be the right project and the right director.”
