High school graduation time is here, and the scenes will look different this year.

Last year, at indoor venues like the Bank of Springfield Center, where Springfield public high schools held their graduation ceremonies, masks were required, and crowds were spaced in one- to eight-person pods.

That isn't the case this year, said general manager Jodi Davis.

No tickets, Davis added, are required for ceremonies there on June 4. Lanphier graduates at 11 a.m. followed by Southeast at 2 p.m. and Springfield High at 5 p.m. Glenwood High School graduates at 8 p.m.

Davis said protocols will be enforced if state of Illinois mandates change.

Mask wearing and social distancing have generally been relaxed at indoor facilities. With the recent rise in virus infections, however, health officials have advised people to consider wearing masks in crowds, especially the elderly or people who are immunocompromised.

Sacred Heart-Griffin and Rochester are holding outdoor ceremonies.

Tickets may be required at other graduations and anyone interested in attending, should check with the school.
