Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will decide whether to run for president in the spring, he said Sunday.

The comment came on “Fox News Sunday” after he bashed midterm GOP candidates who focused on “the past” — an apparent reference to former President Donald Trump, though Pompeo didn’t mention his ex-boss by name.

“We lost too many races. We had candidates that wouldn’t defend the things that matter most,” he said. “Candidates that won were serious, they were thoughtful, they articulated a vision for taking America forward. They didn’t focus on the past.”

Last week, Democratic Sen. Herschel Walker of Georgia beat a challenge from Trump-backed GOP candidate Herschel Walker, the last result from midterm elections that saw many other MAGA Republicans fare poorly.

Last month, Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Pompeo are among the other big names believed to be mulling a run.

Recent months have seen Pompeo traveling the country, promoting a new book and regularly weighing in on politics on Twitter.

He was noncommittal when asked Sunday if he’s going to run for president.

“Susan and me, my wife, are thinking our way through this,” he said. “The clock is ticking, but we have to make sure we get this right for America. It’s not about the Pompeos … I’m confident the country will get it right come 2024.”

Asked when he’ll make a decision, Pompeo said “sometime in the spring.”

The former Kansas congressman said he was tired of seeing Republicans lose races — an apparent dig at Trump’s famous claim that he’d “win” so much, Americans would get sick of it.

Pompeo’s criticism was more explicit at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting in November.

“We were told we’d get tired of winning. But I’m tired of losing,” Pompeo said.
