Pontiac January blood drive at Senior Center garners 67 units

Livingston County Sheriff Ryan Bohm and his wife were among 67 donors who participated in a blood drive recently at the Senior Center on North Ladd Street. The drive included whole blood and “Double Red” donations.

Double Red is collecting twice the normal amount, separating out the red blood cells, then putting the remaining blood back into his bloodstream.

Double Red can often treat up to four patients who need blood. Those who were Double Red donors included Jerry Raube, Ed Voss, Jerome Belter, Jesse Tinges, Jim Bacigalupo, Mike Forney, Aaron Dowell, Troy Christianson, Carolyn Lueker, Derek Carter and Crystal Chalkey.

Those donating Whole Blood included Cindy Lyons, Donita Duffee, Jason DeYoung, Mary Duffy, John Duffy, James Stahler, Lauren Gerdes, Kathy Owens, April Fornero, David Swartz, Malinda Hillman, Jim Carroll, Don Schlosser, Peg Meier, Ann Henrichs, Dean Tunberg, Keith Moritz, Jackie Trachsel, Paul Huter, Marcus Sellers, Robert Belb, Jeff Utterback, Sharon Mackinson, Tom Rader, Peter Beebe, Daniel Fry, Bob Jacobs, Chad Nelson, Ryan Bohm, Sarah Bohm, Bonnie Coriell, Jill Murphy, Kelsey Smith, Sara Dunham, Nathan Koval, Suzanna Jaime, Duane Rients, Karen Pfister, Charles Ruberstell, Susan Johns, Julie Wunsch and Charlie Cassady.

Red Cross staff collected the donated units at the drive. Dixie Vogel was the coordinator for the volunteers who also assisted in intake and food service. Volunteering were Norma Studebaker, Susan Strauch, Bob McKenzie, Pat Oltman, Ray Smythe and Peg Meier. Meier prepared and served the food, then took a break to donate blood.
