Weather Alert Day: Cold front will bring severe storms, threat of gusty winds and hail Thursday
UPDATE: Storms moving south out of Georgia along with our next cold front will spark early morning storms north of Orlando for the morning commute, Channel 9 Certified Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry said.
The storms will then move south and become more numerous through the lunch hour, Terry said. Gusty winds and hail are the main threats for severe storms, but we’ll be monitoring all storms for any rotation or a brief tornado.
Storms will be active through mid/late afternoon Thursday, then much cooler and drier air moves in for Friday.

Pop-up storms are moving through Central Florida on Wednesday before stronger storms move in on Thursday.
Channel 9 meteorologists have declared Thursday a Weather Alert Day due to the chance of isolated severe storms.

Wednesday’s storms prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for Palm Coast, Flagler Beach and Bunnell until 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday’s forecast also called for hot temperatures with highs up to 91 degrees in some areas.

Tonight, we’ll have isolated storms and temperatures in the 70s.
With the front moving in on Thursday, there will be an isolated threat of severe storms with damaging wind and hail possible, as well as an isolated tornado.
Scattered storms are forecast for most of Thursday morning and afternoon, with stronger storms possible mid-morning through late afternoon. The storms are forecast to gradually push through from northwest in Marion County to southeast in Brevard County.
After Thursday’s front, we’ll have awesome weather for the weekend. It will be sunny, with highs in the 70s.
