Popocatepetl Volcano Eruption Sends Column of Ash Shooting Into Sky

Mexico’s National Center for Prevention of Disasters reported an explosion from the active Popocatepetl volcano on Tuesday, May 5.

The federal agency said the column of ash and volcanic debris reached one kilometer (0.6 miles) in height and dispersed south-southeast of the volcano.
