Plenty to choose from, much more to come.
That’s the word from Turlock Community Theatre, where seven acts have been announced for its 2022-23 season.
He and his staff are looking to add at least 10 more shows to the lineup, said Kit Casey, managing director of the theater. They have offers out to several performers and are awaiting confirmation.
“We announced this amount as kind of the first half of this season,” Casey said.
Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at the theater, 1574 E. Canal Drive, and at www.turlocktheatre.org.
This will mark the first time for the artists booked to appear at the Turlock theater, with the exception of fan favorite program “The Price is Right Live.”
“I think for us, the main thing that we’re really excited about is we’re happy to have new acts that we haven’t had before,” Casey said.
Among this year’s performers will be Lyle Lovett with John Hiatt, Steve Vai, The Bacon Brothers and Sara Evans. Evans will perform a Christmas show as part of her “Go Tell It On The Mountain” tour.
“We’ve had Lyle Lovett on our radar for many years,” Casey said, “it’s just never worked out.”
Two shows on the slate were postponed from 2021, he said. “The Price is Right Live” was moved because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vai’s performance was pushed due to an injury the artist suffered.
The partial lineup was announced so they could send out their brochure and start selling tickets for shows that begin in September.
Any additional shows booked likely will be offered from January through May, Casey said. They’ll be announced as they are confirmed.
“We’re targeting at least 10 more shows for the season,” he said. “I’m confident we’ll reach that goal.”
All announced are music performers, with the exception of “The Price Is Right Live.” Here’s this year’s lineup, so far; shows are set for 7:30 p.m.:
Sept. 20, Killer Queen: a tribute band performing the music of Queen.
Oct. 21, The Bacon Brothers: actor-musician Kevin Bacon and his brother, Michael, playing a blend of folk, rock, soul, and country influences.
Nov. 8, Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt: The singer-songwriters have been performing together for decades.
