Popular Bar Closes After 12 Years In South Norwalk: Report

The South Norwalk restaurant and bar offered a large selection of inventive menu items and a wide variety of beers on tap.

NORWALK, CT – Cask Republic, the former Ginger Man location at 99 Washington Street, is closing its doors after 12 years in South Norwalk, the Norwalk Hour reported. Yelp has also listed the location as closed.

According to their website, Cask Republic offers a large selection of menu items and a wide variety of beers on tap, which can be found gracing the long wall behind the bar. It also features a convenient outdoor patio area.

"While the vibe at Cask Republic is inviting and fun, our restaurant offers our guests serious chef-crafted American fare as well as creative interpretations of globally inspired dishes," the restaurant's website reads. "Our extensive beverage program offers a carefully curated selection of American & international beers, unique wine selections and a hand crafted cocktail menu utilizing house made ingredients."

Cask Republic currently has locations in both Stamford (1919 Summer Street) and New Haven (179 Crown Street). Both are operated by Skal Restaurant Group, as was the Norwalk location.

A well-received piece of Sono's roster of restaurants and bars, Cask Republic's Norwalk location received praise as recently as September on Yelp.

"It's always a good time at Cask Republic," Yelp reviewer Harry L. wrote on Sept. 24. "Their Pesto Mac and Cheese is one of the best Mac and Cheese I ever had. Their beer selection is the best in Sono and if you like whiskey, this is one of the best spots to go to."
