Popular BBQ restaurant ready to open in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — BBQ lovers can rejoice on Friday as the new City BBQ location in Lafayette will have its grand opening at 11 a.m.

Indiana's first location outside of Indianapolis, the Lafayette City BBQ will serve all kinds of Southern classics such as pulled pork sandwiches, beef brisket, cornbread, mac and cheese, peach cobbler and much more.

"City BBQ is what we call a public smokehouse," Brian Toth, general manager of the Lafayette City BBQ location, said. "It is all food, all sides, all meat, everything made or smoked here in-house. Everything is fresh."

City BBQ will offer indoor and outdoor seating, curbside pick-up, drive-thru and delivery through partnerships with DoorDash, Grubhub and other food delivery services.

Citty BBQ partners with Purdue University

Customers will not be the only ones benefitting from visiting City BBQ, as the restaurant is partnering with Purdue University's hospitality program to offer internships.

"We are actually doing some internships through the university," Toth said, "for their classes... Right now we're doing two of the hospitality internships. We have two people here earning credits at Purdue. That's something we're going to continue to grow."

Toth said that he is most looking forward to seeing all the local Lafayette citizens coming in and becoming regulars after the grand opening.

"Just (meeting) the people," Toth said, "just interaction with the people here in town. I've been down to our Whitestown joint for a little while, I was down there for a few months. And just the people coming in, they would drive from here to there or get it on their way back here from Indianapolis and (they would say) 'Oh I can't wait until you guys (open).' I'm just excited to talk to the people that come in."

Toth also noted that they are still looking to hire more staffers.
