Popular Bellingham steak restaurant listed for sale after owner opens ramen eatery

The Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse in Bellingham has been listed for sale by its owner, Paul Han, who has recently opened a new restaurant in Bellingham.

The Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse has been serving the Fairhaven neighborhood for 49 years and Han became the owner in 2019. Han also is part of a team that owns eight restaurants, including some in Oak Harbor, Mount Vernon, and now Ramen and Bowl, a new restaurant in Bellingham, Han wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.

“Because the ramen is one of the most favorite foods in our team members, we always wished to serve and share in Bellingham,” Han wrote.

Ramen and Bowl opened in December 2022 and serves dishes such as miso ramen, chicken teriyaki, short ribs, edamame, gyoza and shrimp tempura.

“Our goal is to have authentic and tasteful Japanese food be accessible to people who may have never had the opportunity to try it before. With Bellingham being filled with many young and open-minded people, we could broaden people’s palettes,” Han wrote.

Ramen and Bowl is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5-8:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, and from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant is at 105 E Chestnut St. in Bellingham.

As for Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse, the restaurant is listed for sale online for $300,000, and Han hopes someone will take over the business.

“My team and I are operating several different restaurants, mostly Asian cuisine. I am just too busy with all the restaurants. As of right now the Dirty Dan Harris is the only steakhouse that we have and if there is anyone who can come and operate better than us, that would be better for the historical restaurant,” Han wrote.

The sale includes all furniture, fixtures, equipment, signage, website and the name, according to the listing.

The steak house will remain open as it is on the market and operates from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at 1211 11th in Bellingham.
