Popular Carolina Beach Thai restaurant moving to Monkey Junction

This week, Ida Thai and Beau Rivage Marketplace announced that the Asian restaurant would be opening in Monkey Junction.

Rachanee Wechamongkolgorn, who owns the restaurant with husband Wijak Bongkotmanee, said the owner of their current space at 304 N. Lake Park Blvd. in Carolina Beach had other plans for the property, so they needed to find a new spot.

They'll be moving to the former Niche Kitchen and Bar space at 5954 Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington, in the shopping center with Harris Teeter and other restaurants, including a PT's Old Fashioned Grille location.

"We are still figuring some things out," she said, but they hope to open early next year with a similar menu that offers Pad Thai, Beef Salad, Spicy Basil Noodles, Seafood Hot Pot and Roast Duck Curry.

Ida Thai has been a popular spot for authentic Thai food since it opened in 2010. The couple are from Thailand but worked in restaurants like the former Thai Peppers in Southport before opening in Carolina Beach.
