Popular comic who appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent’ to play Modesto’s Gallo Center

“America’s Got Talent” alum Drew Lynch will play at the Gallo Center, where Opera Modesto and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra also will perform. You can celebrate diverse cultures at the International Heritage Festival in Modesto. Those are just some of the entertainment options in the region planned Oct. 7-13.

Drew Lynch’s Golden Buzzer performance on Season 10 of “America’s Got Talent” won him second place on the TV show. Since, the comedian has gathered more than 2 million subscribers on YouTube. He brings his show to the Gallo Center in Modesto. Limited tickets were available.

Heritage fest

The International Heritage Festival returns to Modesto, celebrating the region’s diverse cultures. A parade of flags will be held at 11 a.m. The 30th annual event includes international food, music, dance performances, children’s crafts and more. Children can “travel” around the world to collect stamps on their passports.

“Die Fledermaus”

Opera Modesto brings “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss to the Gallo Center. The production features Liisa Dávila as Rosalinda, Alicia Hurtado as her chambermaid, Gabriel Manro as her husband, Emmanuel Mercado as her ex-flame and José Luis Muñoz as Prince Orlovsky. Octavio Pérez-Bustamante sings the role of the prankster Falke. It will be sung German, with dialogue and supertitles in English.

Modesto Symphony Orchestra

The Modesto Symphony Orchestra’s new music director, Nicholas Hersh, in his debut concert opens with Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. Hersh then will be joined by pianist Alessio Bax for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The evening will conclude with Copland’s Symphony No. 3. “This symphony brings out the lyrical sounds of Americana that Copland is so known for and will flow into the finale, which opens with the theme from his own triumphant Fanfare for the Common Man,” according to the Gallo Center website.

Big Brother and The Holding Company

Janis Joplin’s original band, Big Brother and The Holding Company, brings its music to the State Theatre. The concert benefits The State and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Stanislaus County. Also performing will be Modesto band The Vibes.
