Crafters, teachers and home decor lovers will have another place to get their supplies in the area.

Shoppers will soon be able to peruse the aisles of yarn, photo frames, silk flowers, and wreaths at two Hobby Lobby locations in Brunswick County.

Here's what we know.

The store will go into an existing space.

According to LoopNet, a website for marketing commercial real estate, Hobby Lobby has leased space at Live Oak Village, a shopping center located at 4961 Long Beach Road between Southport and Oak Island. The property lies in the county's zoning jurisdiction.

The store will become the anchor for the shopping center.

The Hobby Lobby store will occupy two large spaces, a 40,945-square foot space previously occupied by Lowes Foods and a 12,000-square foot space previously occupied by Peebles department store.

Lowes Foods store served as the center's anchor tenant, with Peebles and CVS Pharmacy also drawing shoppers. The Lowes Foods store and the CVS pharmacy relocated to the Southport Crossing Shopping Center across the street in 2019, and the Peebles closed a couple of years later. All three spaces have been vacant since. While Hobby Lobby will occupy the two largest spaces, CVS Pharmacy and some of the smaller storefronts remain available for lease.

This is the second Hobby Lobby store in Brunswick County.

The Southport location will join one at the Shallotte Crossing Shopping Center, located off Main Street in Shallotte. There is also a location at Hanover Center on Oleander Drive in Wilmington.

There is no word yet on when it will open.

Hobby Lobby will need to upfit and combine the two spaces in Live Oak Village, and there is no word on when that work will begin. The StarNews reached out to Hobby Lobby's press office for comment, but it had not been returned by time of publication.
