  • Jane Lynch, 58, recently lost 11 pounds by following the Atkins diet.

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star says she doesn't like to exercise and credits a healthy diet to her weight loss success.

  • Lynch also meditates every day to reduce stress.

Actress Jane Lynch does not like to workout. "I like to walk, but I don't do it often enough," she tells Prevention.com. "I should also start lifting weights. I've been trying to do that for six years."

Though the comedian has been blessed with a naturally thin frame, the Glee star credits a healthy diet to her recent, 11-pound weight loss. That's right: Eleven. Whole. Pounds.

Lynch admits to eating healthier today than she has in the past, but there are key changes she's made within the past year that really propelled her weight loss journey. Here's what she told us:

She's a fan of the Atkins diet

For those who aren't familiar with this popular low-carb diet, it consists of eating high-fat and high-protein foods to keep you fuller, longer, thus reducing your appetite. And eating less, of course, can lead to weight loss.

Similar to the keto diet, Atkins is designed to burn fat as fuel instead of sugar. "I've also tried the keto diet which helped me lose weight, but I didn't do it for very long," Lynch says.

While Atkins encourages fatty meats, Lynch says she still had to cut way down on one of her favorites. "I used to eat steak every day, but then my cholesterol was in the 260s and I had to switch to salmon," she says. "I really love salmon. When I love something, I eat it over and over again."

Another food she loves and "eats every single day" is cheese, in many forms. She'll eat either a slice of cheese or parmesan crisps in between meals, especially when she's busy filming.

She meditates every single day

The first thing Lynch does in the morning is drink a cup of coffee (like the rest of us!). But shortly after that? She meditates with a form of Transcendental Meditation (TM).

Like other successful executives and celebrities, Lynch has found TM to be calming and helpful for tapping into her creativity. "I was trained in TM in 1996, but I didn't stick with it until the past 6 to 7 months," she says. "I’ve been meditating with David Lynch." Lynch runs the David Lynch Foundation, which teaches meditation to children (and other celebs like Jane!).

She's also a big fan of podcasts. "My favorite thing to do is go to a coffee shop in West Hollywood and listen to podcasts," she says. "I'm not as busy as you think and have a lot of free time."

She takes care of her skin

Although the comedian joked about failing to take off her makeup or wash her face at night (gasp!), Lynch pays more attention to skincare in the morning.

"I don't really have a skincare routine, because luckily I'm blessed with pretty good skin," she says. "I use Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream in the mornings. It's the most luscious moisturizing cream."

She advocates for animals

If there's one thing you should remember about Jane Lynch, it's that she absolutely loves animals. The actress has worked with a number of hospitals and organizations like PETA and Rescue Pets.

"I love acting because it allows me to have a celebrity status so I can use my platform to advocate for the more vulnerable members of society," she says. "Animals are innocent, vulnerable creatures and I hate to see them without love."

The actress has partnered with Banfield Pet Hospital, which recently developed an app called Vet Chat that allows pet owners to text a vet with concerns with their animal's health. The app, which offers 24/7 access to veterinarians, will help pet owners decide whether their fur babies can sleep off an illness or need emergency care.

Lynch has adopted a number of dogs, including her insta-famous Arbuckle deUnicorn, who sadly has passed. She currently has three shelter dogs living under her roof: Millie, Bernie, and Rumi. "A house is not a home without a dog," she says.

In addition to her animal advocacy work, the actress is excited for season three of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which she began filming in March. Though she could "tell me essentially nothing" about what to expect for season three, she did mention a few things about what's to come: "It's another 10 or 11 episodes of beautiful television, set in the 1960s. This season takes the characters' stories even deeper and relationships are examined even more than in previous seasons."
