Popular Ocean Springs business survived COVID, a bridge closure & storms. Now it’s closed

Those who wanted the best steak or burgers for the grill, or a really good deli sandwich, knew 4 Bulls was the place to go.

Owner Roy McKenzie opened 4 Bulls Meats Seafood & Deli in 2020, in the middle of COVID-19, at The Inlet housing community on Bienville Boulevard in Ocean Springs.

A master butcher with years of experience in grocery and butcher shops, he kept the shop going through the pandemic, the closing of the Fort Bayou bridge that cut off some of his traffic, Hurricane Zeta and other storms.

Now, medical issues have prompted him to close and sell his business to another supplier.

“Today marks a sad day for us as we have sold the business,” he posted on Facebook Dec. 16, ”and are excited to announce that Mason Hills Farms will take the torch and service all of our customers.”

He said Mason Hills will take ownership of 4 Bull’s Facebook page and website next week.

Mason Hills owns a new USDA processing facility and cattle ranch in Grand Bay, Alabama, McKenzie said.

“Currently they’re operating a very successful online store service, but the new Fresh Shops are coming very soon,” he said.

McKenzie said, “4 Bulls and the art of butchery is my passion, but due to medical reasons it just became impossible to manage the business and travel for appointments.”

All booked Christmas orders will be delivered by Mason Hills andgift cards will be reimbursed. Customers are asked to photograph the back of the gift card and email it, along with their name and address, to 4bullsbutcher@email.com.
