Popular Pittsburgh-Area Restaurant Closes After 20 Years

PENN HILLS, PA — Green Forest Brazilian Restaurant and Lounge, a Rodi Plaza staple for 20 years, has permanently closed. Known for its extensive variety of meats, the eatery shut down for good on Sunday.

Co-owner Flavia Naccarato announced the closure with a Facebook video.

"I'm here to say thank you to everyone who chose my place to have a wedding, a bachelor party, Sweet 16, all parties in your life," she said. "I appreciate all of you who came here."

She did not indicate whether the closure was prompted by diminished business because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Naccarato said she and co-owner Oswaldo Fortini could open another restaurant in the future.

Other prominent Pittsburgh restaurants that have closed since the outbreak began include the Original Hot Dog Shop in Oakland and Howlers and Alexander's, both in Bloomfield.
