A popular Polish restaurant is for sale. Here's what to know.
FALL RIVER — Patti’s Pierogis, a popular restaurant that’s won national acclaim for its traditional Polish food, is listed for sale.
Owner Patti Geary, a Fall River native, opened the diner-style restaurant on South Main Street in 2009 as a way of celebrating her Polish heritage. Her dozens of pierogi flavors and traditional kielbasa, all made from scratch, quickly became a local favorite.
The restaurant and building itself is listed by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices for $609,000.
“Fantastic opportunity to own this well-known, established restaurant and building. Real estate, business, and equipment included in the sale along with a full liquor license,” the listing reads in part.
The eatery, the last remaining Polish restaurant in Fall River, has won acclaim for its mom-and-pop business model and traditional recipes.
Celebrities eat at Patti’s
In 2012, Guy Fieri filmed an episode of his show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” at Patti’s; after only three years in business, the restaurant had established a dedicated following that successfully petitioned for a visit from the celebrity restaurateur.
Fieri left impressed with the authentic, fresh Polish food.
“This is the real deal — she makes her own dough and her own fillings. When we go to a location, it has to be scratch-made,” he said at the time. “You’ve got a hidden gem here.”
Bill Murray is also a fan of Patti’s. In 2021, he made headlines for leaving Martha’s Vineyard and driving to Fall River just to visit the restaurant.
“I said to him, ‘Tell me, Bill. What brings you to Fall River?’ And he said, ‘You! Your place!’...They came all the way to Fall River just for pierogis,” Geary told The Herald News after the actor’s visit.
Murray sat for about an hour, chatting and eating.
“They ate everything. They didn’t leave a thing behind,” Geary said. “They tried Polish pierogis, Polish wine. Bill Murray had the Polish vodka. He was Polish all the way.”
