Tap 42, a craft beer-loving restaurant brand with nine South Florida locations – including one in Boca Raton – will open a sprawling restaurant at The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens next year, the mall announced Wednesday.

The new restaurant and bar, to be located on the mall’s upper level, near Sears, will be the Tap 42 chain’s largest when it opens sometime in 2023, according to the announcement.

With a bar menu that boasts an extensive selection of beers, liquors and cocktails, Tap 42 is well known for its boozy brunches on weekends.

The food menu offers American-pub dishes, many with global accents. Which means the go-to spinach-artichoke dip shares menu space with an appetizer called  “Crispy Asian Calamari Tower,” spicy salmon tostones, shrimp mac-and-cheese, chimichurri skirt steak, Southern fried chicken and waffles and tres leches French toast.

The upcoming restaurant will take over multiple spaces left vacant in the past couple of years, says a mall rep. That puts the upcoming, 8,000-square-foot restaurant within steps of the wine-focused Cooper’s Hawk restaurant on the mall’s second level.

Founded in Fort Lauderdale in 2011, Tap 42 has grown to include locations in Boca Raton, Davie, Coral Springs, Aventura, Midtown Miami, Doral, Coral Gables and Kendall. The Boca Raton location debuted in July 2015.

Tap 42 partners at the parent Tapco Restaurant Group had been eyeing the northern Palm Beach County market for a while as a “perfect fit” for Tap 42, vice president and partner Alex Rudolph said in a news release.

“When the opportunity arose to go into a prime location in The Gardens Mall, we jumped all over it. We have been waiting for the right opportunity to continue our expansion north,” he said.
