This popular Rockford area food truck plans to open a downtown storefront next year

Downtown Rockford will soon be home to a popular chicken restaurant that's currently being run on wheels.

Rockford's Disco Chicken food truck will become a brick-and-mortar location this spring at 212 E State St., the former site of 212 Grindhouse, which was open for less than a year before closing in April 2022.

Before it was 212 Grindhouse, 212 E. State St. was home to Taco Betty's.

According to Disco Chicken's Facebook page, the business has purchased the building and will make renovations over the winter.

"In addition to the core Disco Chicken menu of fried chicken sandwiches, tenders and loaded tots, we will be serving Bad Humor Ice Cream," Disco Chicken posted on Facebook. "We are so excited for this next chapter and evolution for Disco Chicken, @badhumor815 and this incredible building in the heart of downtown."

The Disco Chicken food truck is owned by Paul Sletten, who also owns Abreo and Social restaurants, the Bad Humor Ice Cream Truck and VeeDubbs Mobile Cocktail Bar.
