Popular Sacramento ramen spot reopens with limited staff to fight ‘financial strain’
Shoki Ramen House in Land Park — a favorite in Sacramento — reopened its doors Thursday, according to an Instagram post.
Restaurant owners Yasushi and Kathy Ueyama posted to the social website on Wednesday stating it would be opening under a limited “husband-wife team,” which may result in slower than normal service.
The Japanese restaurant at 2530 21st St. in Land Park burned down five years ago, which caused extensive damage that the owners are still trying to rectify. The business briefly reopened early this year with reservations only, but maintenance issues shut them down again in July.
The “financial strain” of renovating the restaurant has forced the owners to re-open sooner than expected due to “financial obligations,” stated the Oct. 4 Instagram post.
“Our construction issues are not resolved, however we have financial obligations that need to be fulfilled,” the post said.
The restaurant re-opened at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and served its last customer of the day at 8 p.m.
No reservations will be taken, instead, seats will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
