A popular SC tourist spot inspired Pepperidge Farm cookies — and now you can try them
A popular South Carolina tourist attraction inspired a new cookie flavor — and you can try it for yourself.
Pepperidge Farm announced the debut of Soft Baked Charleston Birthday Cake cookies, a festive treat with white chocolate and multi-colored sprinkles. The cookies are now on sale at stores nationwide.
The new cookies “are named after Charleston, a destination that has become popular to celebrate life’s milestones, including birthdays,” Soroor Rahnama, marketing director of cookies at Campbells Snacks, said in a March 16 email to McClatchy News.
While the cookies bear the name of a vacation hot spot, they also have a link to one of the city’s iconic landmarks.
“We wanted to create an entirely new cookie experience for our fans that is both indulgent and evokes special memories and so we tied the famous street colors of Charleston’s ‘Rainbow Row’ into our cookie’s rainbow sprinkles to give fans even more (to) celebrate,” Rahnama wrote.
Rainbow Row consists of more than a dozen houses that line the city’s East Bay Street. The colorfully painted homes date to the 18th century and have become a popular spot to take photos.
The cookies come in 8.6-ounce packaging and have a suggested retail price of $5.09.
